    Measuring the full impact of a new feature or product version has traditionally required a proper #ABtest. The problem is - they require traffic, time and resources. They just aren’t feasible at times. Also, the pace of progress slows down way too much and is unsustainable to the business. So often, features and version are rolled out blind. Vanity metrics, like adoption, subsequently fill the airspace.     After working with various product analytics teams, I’ve noticed that there is not a lot of deep content out there for analytics leaders - playbooks and best practices for analytics team on how to build the best analytics teams, and the analytics job in general - which is changing a lot.I think if you look back at the last five years, things are shifting. Analytics teams are expected to deliver insights that actually affect the #KPI's - rather than just build another dashboard for the purpose of building dashboards. Some people now call that data theater. 🎭 I couldn’t agree more. 💯 We discussed this is our in-person Product Analytics Leaders Meetup in San Francisco last month.     Companies put their most expensive resources on developing new features, but they cannot always accurately measure their impact. Either they run hashtag#ABtests which are super-expensive in terms of R&D, traffic, and time, and in many cases simply not feasible. Or, they proceed with the launch, tracking vanity metrics such as adoption and using misleading comparative methods, (before / after comparisons) hoping for “success.” 🤷♂️ In our latest Loops white paper, by Iyar Lin 💪 , we discuss a paradigm shift in approach.
