Hmmm... Looks like to me Tampa will get the worst of the storm surge if the storm hits a bit south. The wind will be pushing water inland anywhere north of the eye.
Hurricanes in the gulf rotate counter clockwise, so isn't it the opposite? If the eye hits north of Tampa, then the surge will flood the bay.

hold up. he's not leaving because.....he's got a tattoo on his arm that he says means god has his back? is this man batshit crazy or just strung out on meth?
i guess that the only reason why god is going to save this guy, after forsaking everybody else on this planet who has died in the aftermath of hurricanes, is that tattoo on his arm. gotta have that magical hokus pokus tatoo on your arm i guess. that's the secret!
i wonder what is going to get to this guy first? darwin or the coast guard?
Boat dwellers are f*ckin weird. My Mother used to work at a Marina so she had to deal with people who only come off their boats once in a great while. This dude is pretty much the type. They're like trailer trash minus the sense of community. Some of them are actually super rich but just act broke.

He lives in Florida. That's all the reason you need. The reasoning does not have to make sense because.......Florida. You heard the man. All he cares about is waking up and not being broke. He doesn't care if he dies as long as he's not broke. Good old sound Florida logic at its best.

one of my uncles once lived in a dingy. his dog woke him up in the middle of a night and saved his life when it somehow sprung a leak and started taking on water. within just a few minutes it capsized and sank.
he was okay though, he wasn't far from the docks, or might have even been tied off to one.

You're right... lol. The storm heading east had me screwed up. I'm so used to looking at them hitting the Texas coast heading west.
If those courses hold, Tampa should be fine.
I took my mom to swim with the manatees close to Tampa this last January. The water was cold as fuck, but it was super cool. I was wondering how those sanctuaries and the manatee's were holding up.
There were record numbers of manatees this last winter hanging out

No it's actually the opposite because the wind direction in a hurricane is counter clockwise. So if it tracks south of Tampa Bay it will actually suck all of the water out of the bay and dump it more south.

Tampa mayor issues dire warning before Hurricane Milton: ‘If you choose to stay … you are going to die’

The powerful storm could hit Florida as early as Wednesday and may be more destructive than deadly Hurricane Helene, which ripped through parts of the Sunshine State just last week.

looks like the hurricane has shifted south a bit. this might be a little bit of relief for the tampa area as they might not get hit with the most catastrophic gusts and surges of the hurricane but they are definately not out of the woods.

ICON: (Best model on Beryl, had it Houston in the bullseye 5 days out)
HAFS-B: (Only model that predicted the sub 900mb on Milton AND predicted the south dip that just happened over the last hours)
Tampa Bay is definitely still on the table for a direct hit.

Yup, that’s why tin the northern hemisphere the “dirty” side of the storm is southeast of the eye. That’s where you don’t want to be.

During Andrew the eye wall and a bit out from there was a cauldron for tornados. My Grandfather's house got hit by the same tornado a few times that night. He and his wife hid in a closet. We evacuated, he refused to. He wasnt harmed bit his wife was pretty traumatized and couldn't stop shaking for a few days.

Dozens of Waffle House locations are closing up shop ahead of Milton. That means this storm is getting serious
they're shutting down the waffle houses? now where are people supposed to go to start brawls and fill the room with uppercuts?
